2025.07 - [ IH version ] Genuine English for Women with Real Stories (자연스럽고 자신 있게 말하는 여성을 위한 일상 영어)

Genuine English for Women with Real Stories (자연스럽고 자신 있게 말하는 여성을 위한 일상 영어). Midlife homemaker-style version of your OPIC script in English:

Here's the revised OPIc script tailored for the IH level, still from the perspective of a midlife homemaker, but with richer vocabulary, more complex grammar, and natural transitions that match Intermediate High fluency. I've polished expressions to sound more thoughtful and expressive—perfect for making a strong impression:

🏠 1. Self-Introduction and Where I Live

Hello, I’m a full-time homemaker living in Uijeongbu, just north of Seoul. It’s a peaceful city with easy access to nature, which I find quite refreshing. I live with my husband and children, and my daily life revolves around taking care of them, managing our home, and keeping everything running smoothly. I consider myself organized, curious, and always eager to learn something new.

🕒 2. My Daily Routine and Favorite Activity

My day usually begins around 6:30. I prepare breakfast for the family and get everyone ready for school or work. Once the house quiets down, I move on to chores like cleaning and shopping. If I have spare time, I enjoy walking in the park or doing a bit of reading. Recently, I’ve picked up knitting again—it’s surprisingly therapeutic and rewarding.

💼 3. My Job or Role

Although I’m not employed in the traditional sense, I consider my role just as meaningful. Managing a household requires time management, budgeting skills, and emotional intelligence. I also volunteer at my community center a few times a month, which allows me to stay connected and contribute outside the home.

📚 4. My Former Job or Life Experience

Before becoming a homemaker, I worked in retail for several years. That experience taught me a lot about handling people and thinking on my feet. It also helped build my confidence, which comes in handy even now in family and social situations.

🎉 5. A Memorable Family Event

One memory that stands out is when my son graduated from elementary school. We hosted a small party at home, and I prepared all his favorite foods. Seeing how happy and proud he was made me realize how rewarding parenting can be.

🧶 6. My Hobby and Why I Enjoy It

One hobby I absolutely love is handcrafting—whether it’s knitting, embroidery, or DIY home décor. It helps me relax while also giving me a sense of accomplishment. I often give my handmade items as gifts, which always feels special.

🎬 7. A Movie or Show I Watched Recently

I recently watched The Intern, a film about a senior intern joining a tech company. It was both heartwarming and humorous, and it reminded me that age doesn’t limit our ability to grow or contribute. I found it quite inspiring.

🏸 8. My Favorite Sport and Experience

I’m not a competitive athlete, but I enjoy casual badminton games with my neighbors. It’s a great way to stay active and socialize at the same time. Once, we even organized a small neighborhood tournament, and it turned out to be such fun!

☕ 9. My Favorite Café or Restaurant

There’s a charming café near my home where I often unwind. It has a cozy interior, soft jazz music, and the best green tea latte I’ve ever had. I usually bring a book or simply sit and enjoy the peaceful vibe.

🌳 10. A Park or Local Spot I Like

My favorite local spot is a riverside park just 10 minutes away. I go there to walk, especially in the early evening when the sun begins to set. The view is beautiful, and it’s the perfect place to clear my thoughts.

✈️ 11. A Recent Trip I Took

Earlier this year, my family and I visited Gyeongju. We explored cultural sites, tried traditional food, and even stayed in a hanok guesthouse. It was a lovely blend of relaxation and learning, and my kids still talk about it.

Several years ago, we traveled to Jeju Island. Everything from the scenery to the food was unforgettable. I particularly enjoyed walking along the Olle trails and watching the waves crash against the black volcanic rocks.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 13. Family vs Friend Travel

I love both, but they’re different. Traveling with family tends to be well-planned and meaningful, especially with kids. Traveling with friends, on the other hand, is more spontaneous and filled with laughter. It depends on what kind of experience I’m looking for.

🎂 14. A Special Celebration

For my 50th birthday, my family surprised me with a small gathering at home. They cooked dinner, made a video of birthday messages, and even baked a cake. I was deeply touched, and it became one of my most cherished memories.

🎨 15. A Concert or Exhibition I Attended

I once attended a calligraphy exhibition at a local gallery. It was more captivating than I expected—the delicate brushwork and poetic phrases really moved me. It sparked my interest in learning Korean calligraphy myself.

One app I use almost daily is my budgeting app. It helps me keep track of our spending and savings goals. It may not be flashy, but it’s practical and makes managing household finances much easier.

📷 17. Social Media and My Lifestyle

I use Instagram mainly for following lifestyle and cooking content. It’s a great source of ideas for everything from dinner recipes to home organization tips. I also enjoy sharing photos of my crafts and connecting with like-minded people.

🧠 18. A New Skill or Language I’ve Learned

Recently, I started studying English again after many years. I joined an online class and try to practice speaking with my classmates. It’s both challenging and fun—it’s great to realize I can still learn and grow at my age.

🌱 19. A Challenge I Overcame

When my husband lost his job a few years ago, it was a stressful period for our family. I had to step up and manage our finances very carefully. We cut back on non-essentials and leaned on each other for support. In the end, the experience made us stronger.

🎓 20. My Goals and OPIC Preparation

My goal is to speak English more fluently so I can travel with confidence and maybe even work part-time in the future. For OPIC, I’ve been practicing daily, recording my answers, and reviewing sample scripts. The more I speak out loud, the more natural I feel. I’m doing my best to enjoy the process.
